I do have "Bitmap Cashing" enabled
Anyone able to point me in a direction?
Will still have the same problem?
server side:
- virtualized environment?
- cpu
- memory bandwidth/fsb speed
- nic (toe, bus type, other traffic on the interface, frame size,...)
the network speed, errors on the links, bad negotiations, bad mtu setting
(retransmits/reassembling)
client side:
- nic
- memory bandwidth/fsb speed
- cpu (caches)
- graphics card processor (shared/dedicated memory)
and so on. this all are important hardware components for terminal
servicing.
you can try to tweak some settings for graphical applications, but this will
affect any session on the server and will increase the load much. if you are
serving user close the maximum this would be a rather bad idea.
!!! all values in decimal !!!
--[ Server
in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal
Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp" there are the two values "InteractiveDelay" and
"OutBufDelay". if i rememer right the values should be 50 and 200
milliseconds. write down the values, to restore the setting. then chage the
values to say 20 and 50 and restart the server.
--[ Client
the same can be done for the mstsc. in "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Terminal
Server Client" add a REG_DWORD with the name "Min Send Interval" and set the
value to 10 and start a new rdp session.
this will make the updates faster and the experience comes closer to a local
desktop.

This is slow even through console.
Server is a Dell 1800
Dual Xeon 2.8
16GB Ram
1GB Nic
10 TS Users avarage.
I have to keep this server around for one remote location so that is why i
am trying resolve the problem.
Clients are using one of these 10/100 Nic (Local), or cable, or dsl, Sprint
Wireless.
2 - 4 GBs Ram each system (laptop, or Desktop)
CPU ranges (Lowest that I know of is 1.8). Most are dual core 2.5+
Graphic cards are all over the board but min is 128
set the experience in the remote desktop connection on the client to the
bare minimum and try again power point. do the bitmap still move?

If I have the same problem on 2008 then I will burn a support case to see if
there is a fix.
I was hoping there was a fix though.

Only PPT is the slow. They can use other apps at the same time but
powerpoint is slow when you try to move boxes/clipart and items like that.

I recommend you look at Ericom Blaze, a software product that accelerates and compresses standard Microsoft RDP. Blaze accelerates RDP performance by as much as 10-25 times, and helps deliver higher frame rates and reduce screen freezes and choppiness.
