I am a .NET developer & do not have much knowledege about terminal services.
To state what i require, first i'll give an idea of the clients work
environment.
The client comes & logs into their own computers, & then using IE, they log
into the remote server (terminal services).
Thus, the client works the whole day on the terminal server (no data is
maintained LOCALLY on the clients LOCAL computer or drive).
Okay,
Now, a client has a pocket pc & has one of our applications in it, the data
of which has to be synchronized with the data on the terminal server drives.
This poses a problem.
THe client, plugs in the pocket pc & when in terminal services, the client
does NOT see the pocket pc plugged in.
But the client see's the pocket Pc ONLY on the local computer (if only the
client switches to the local computer).
Thus for the client to synchronize the data, the client has to,
1). Move the data from the pocket pc to the local drive
2). the local drive is mapped to terminal services
3). the client the logs into the terminal services & uses the mapped drive
to retrive the backed up data & uses this for synchronization with the (our)
application on the terminal servies.
Is there a work around for the above.
I.e. is it possible for the cliet to DIRECTLY send the data from the pocket
pc to our application on the terminal services,
or is it possible for terminal services to detect the pocket pc on the
clients computer?
Regards,
Rudi
