Terminal server runs slow , then drops all sessions

My terminal server has recently started running really
slowly. it eventually drops all sessions and then allows
people to reconnect. I noticed that NTVDM (NT Virtual
Dos Machine) is taking up 100% of the CPU proir to
dropping connections. I also know that the sessions are
all running old Dos Apps (Yes I know it's time to upgrade
them) which could be causing the problem. Any
suggestions on how I can take care of this issue would be
helpful.
