There is a similar thread about migrating a licensing server, but it's not
specific to their situation other than installing a new server. So I don't
want to hijack their thread.

We are currently running a Windows 2000 license server with 500 TSCALs. Most
of our clients are Windows 2000 Pro, but we are moving to Windows Vista
Business in the near future.

We are looking at moving to Windows 2003 on our Terminal Servers so I need
to upgrade our Terminal Server License Server to Windows 2003 to support BOTH
Windows 2000 Terminal Servers and Windows 2003 Terminal Servers.

I'm looking for the the proper way to do this upgrade. When I upgrade the
License Server I'll need to be able to move the current 500 Licenses to the
new server. We'll also be purchasing TSCALs for Windows 2003 to cover us
until we get the upgrade to Vista Business completed.

So my questions are:
How do I get my existing 500 TSCals for Win2K Terminal Server migrated to a
new Win2K3 License Server? MS Clearing House?

For verification a Win2K3 License Server WILL support both licenses for
Win2K and Win2K3 Terminal Servers, correct?

Also for verification, Windows Vista Business has a builtin TSCAL, correct?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
James

You need to free them up before you can move them so you will need to
call the Clearinghouse.

Absolutely

Only when they connect to a Windows 2000 terminal server. You will need
to buy Win2k3 TS CAL's for them to connect to the Win2k3 Terminal Servers.
