Problem is a printer not mapping to RDE session. I have read articles on
printers with ports starting with something other than COM, LPT and USB not
being redirected. I have a network printer that is setup with an IP and each
user has the printer configured to print to that IP therefore the port is
IP_IPADDRESS. When they connect via remote desktop there printer is not
mapped. I set this printer up on my workstation with the same setting and
verified the port is IP_IPADDRESS and the printer mapped fine when I
connected to the same TS Server. I do have administrative rights on the all
the servers. I also found an article the said you can force all ports to map
via regedit, this was NOT done on my workstation. Any ideas as to why this
happening? Two workstations do not map one is WIN98 and one is WINXP SP2.
There are no errors in the event log on the TS server.

Do you have the lastest RDP client installed on those problem workstations?
You can check the client settings on the RDP connection under TS config and
see if client printers are to be mapped? You should also check on the
environment tab of the users in AD. You can disable mapping of client
printers there.
Just a few things to check
Good Luck

I left two important pieces of information out. They both have local
printers also. The local printers seem to map just fine. I can see them
being set and created in the event log. As I mentioned in my first question
there are no event errors about the "network" printer. The "network" printer
is a multifunction device so they also have the fax portion defined as a
printer. This generates an event error as the server does not have the
proper driver for the fax portion. So I can see their local printers being
mapped correctly and I can see an error for the fax printer but the network
printer does not provide me anything as to why it is not mapped. I
appreciate the advice and will check the RDP on eac to make sure it is the
latest version.

Is your terminal server on the same network as your printers? Your other
option would be to setup the networked printers as local printers on your TS
and then you wouldn't have to worry about printer mapping since the printers
would be installed locally on the server. That is what i have done at my
office. Saved a lot of headaches for me.

What happens if you give a user admin rights for a little bit and have them
log on to the TS? Does the printer map properly then?
