I am trying to locate software which would allow writing on top of
information on a screen. I am having a hard time asking what it would be
called. Specifically, is there some kind of software that would allow the
pen to be used like a telestrator on tv?

I do trainings and this would be useful. In a presentation, the pen could
be used to circle, write in, underline, draw diagrams, etc.. over what is
being viewed on the screen.

Thank you very much.

there are a few around, but there will soon be a new 'experience pack'
from microsoft with a new snipping tool and an screen anotator, as well
as some other things.

There's a rather neat Inking program which taps into the screen called
OrangeGuava, from www.orangeguava.com . Remember, you can also use a
program like PowerPoint 2003 and annotate on the slides as they're
presented.

Jessie, you may want to take a look at some of the case studies, etc., which
are enumerated here:

Thank you very much, Chris. I will check out the software at orangeguava.
The powerpoint suggestion is a good one, but often I am showing school
staff how to use our system's software in real time, so I need something
to annotate with over a running piece of software on the screen. I
appreciate your answer to this posting very much.

::-Hi-Tech Annotation- from Hi-Tech Instruments may be the software that
you are looking for. The software provides two (2) major menu functions,
*Write Screen *and* Whiteboard*. The *Write Screen *turns any
applications display into a virtual writable image screen; providing
handwriting tools such as pen, clear, undo, redo, color, width and save.
The user can, at any applications or displays, pop up the selection menu
by double-right clicks, or via simple keystrokes to invoke the Write
Screen virtual image. The *Whiteboard *allows teacher to use a pen,
eraser, text editor and graphic tools (circle, rectangle, line); to set
color and width; to open/save/erase background image; to import visual
templates from other applications by selecting areas from the display.
Using the tablet monitor as a 2nd display opens up the doors for many
applications. ::'::http://www.writescreen.us::'

Why not try Presentation Assistant. This presentation tool allows you to
zoom in and annotate your computer display in presentation, so the
interpretation or demonstration can be clearer. Heck, it even allows you
continue to work but has annotation remains.... that's really an
advantage of the program.

To me it seems a bit strange to attach a second input device if one
already has a TabletPC.
Annotating with the pen works quite nice for me in my lectures - be it a
PowerPoint presentation or OneNote or the PDF-Annotator.
