can't get an IP address

So I've tried for a few weeks now to get my ViewSonic V150 to work with my XP
Pro SP 2 desktop.

I recently noticed in the network settings of the V150, that the IP address
assigned through DHCP is not in my IP space, and is not served by my DHCP
server.

Also, when I assign it a static IP address, the V150 says that its
connected, but my LinkSys WAP doesn't see it in its list of connected devices.

Has anyone else had troubles getting their V150 to obtain an IP address?
Could the wireless antenna be broken? turned off? misconfigured?
