I built a new WSUS server on W2K3 Standard and using WMSDE. The problem
I having - the server is not synchronizing at all. I am going through a
proxy (Netcache/Websense) to connect to the Internet. I am seeing the
following log file entries:

Any idea of what is going on? Thanks.

How did you configure the WSUS server to use the proxy?

How did you configure the proxy to allow connections from the WSUS server?

The WSUS server is configured with the proxy name (proxy.domain.com),
port number is 8080, my user id and password (no clear text option). I
do not have any control over the proxy where I work. I verified with
the admin for the proxy that it supports http v1.1 and that there
should be no problem using port 80 and 443 at the same time.

This may be the issue. WSUS needs to be able to maintain simultaneous proxy
sessions on both HTTP and HTTPS. Some proxy servers seem to be unable to
dynamically switch between HTTP and HTTPS when the client is connected on a
single port.

It may be necessary for your proxy administrator to create a dedicated HTTPS
proxy channel for the WSUS server to use, in addition to the default channel
on port 8080. If this is done, you may also need to use the proxycfg.exe
utility to configure the alternate proxy port for HTTPS.

If there "should be no problem using port 80 and 443 (outbound) at the same
time", then I'd say you have evidence to the contrary. You could also
approach the scenario by asking the proxy administator to /prove/ that the
proxy can maintain simultaneous connections on both protocols from the same
proxy client.

I Had the same issue. I ran Filemon.exe and I saw that the NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE did not have acces to is "home folder"
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService. I gave Modify permission to
NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE on the C:\Documents and
Settings\NetworkService\ folder and check the Replace Permission
option.

It work for me
