I've been having a problem with loading the administration snap-in since the
late beta 3.0. The first time I load the snap-in it works fine, afterwards it
errors out every time telling me to either report or unload and continue. If
I unload it then close it, it'll re-open fine, but if I close it and try to
reload it, it fails everytime. I've reinstalled the report viewer, MMC 3.0
and the WSUS administration console on this remote computer. Here is the
exact error message:
FX:{8b6499ed-0241-e032-6508-da4b1c879d7e}

Make a backup copy of %appdata%\microsoft\MMC\Wsus, and then remove the
original.
Try again - let us know if the problem fixes itself, or continues.

If it continues to have a problem, I suspect there's a problem with your
.NET 2.0 install. Did you beta test that product, by any chance?

I went ahead and made a backup copy, then removed the original, it allowed me
to open it once. Once I closed the snap-in and tried to reload it I received
the same error again. I am using this computer as a test/development box for
an ASP application, but I can always try to reinstall .NET 2.0. I actually
did not participate in the beta for .NET on this box.
