I have a Windows 2003 SP1 server running WSUS.
On the 24.8.2005 some of the clients stopped reporting back to our WSUS
server. Others a few keeps reporting back.
From the Clients Windowsupdate.log file I can find this:

In this file I find this error: SyncUpdates failure, error = 0x8024400E,
soap client error = 7, soap error code = 400, HTTP status code = 200.
Do anyone know how to fix this problem?
The Clients are primary Windows XP SP2.

This is an indication of a server-side issue, either performance related, or
perhaps APS.NET or the database is timing out trying to serve the requests.
What do you find in the IIS Logs and Event Logs on the server?

There is a few lines refereing to error 500(HTTP server error), but does not
tell me anything else. Any ideas?
Regards, Martin
So I uninstalled the WSUS, removed all, and reinstalled it again.
Clients are signing in now.
Thank you for your time.
Regards, Martin
Apparently something is wrong with the SQL Web Assistant or how WSUS uses
this feature.
If you have any other ideas that would be great. Otherwise my next step is
to leave the SQL
install alone and remove and re-install WSUS. If that works then that would
indicate the SQL
database was not the issue and would point to a problem with WSUS. I have
seen others in this
newsgroup report the exact same entries in the windowsupdate.log file on
their clients. It appears
that in those cases they just reinstalled WSUS and that Microsoft was not
really able to help them.
BTW - This is not a production server but a test server that after
additional testing would be moved
into production. It has 70 client machines, is running W2K3/SP1 server, with
a 2.8 GHz processor,
and 1 GB of RAM. I don't think that one client connecting in should result
in a timeout.
Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated, and I do thank
you for the quick response.
