I am planning on installing WSUS 3.0 SP1 on a Windows 2003 SP2 server. I
read the requirements but since .net framework 2 doesn't exist anymore I am
confused. As I understand it .net framework 3.5 provides support for 2.0 so
I shouldn't have to it install .net framework 2. Even if I installed .net
framework 2 when I do a windows update 3.5 sp1 is a cricital update. So I
think I should be able to install 3.5 and wsus should be good to go. Is
this true or did I misunderstand something? If it is true maybe someone
should update the requirements at

Thanks,
It does, and *many* applications still exist that are exclusively built upon
.NET Framework v2.0, and .NET20 is still downloadable as a separate product.

This is a correct statement. If you already have .NET30 or .NET35 installed,
there is no additional .NET Framework installation requirement.

The *minimum* requirements are .NET Framework v2.0 -- the fact that .NET30
and .NET35 also install .NET20 is notable. .NET20 is the base product.
.NET30 and .NET35 are ADD-ON packages for the .NET Framework v2.0
environment.
