Anyone know if it's possible for a server running the WSUS service to also
be a client of the same service?
Specifically can the WUServer value at
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
have the name of the same machine hosting the WSUS service?
For example, if the server name running WSUS is "WSUShost", will
"WUServer"="http://WSUShost"
work?
I tried it, and the server doesn't show up in the computer list.
Thanks,
John Ryan

While it doesn't really matter, and I have my WSUS server in a single group
with all other WSUS servers, now that you've asked the question, and I'm
/thinking/ about the scenario....
It occurs to me that, maybe, in a perfectly designed environment, one might
want to put the WSUS server in its own Target Group, and update it /before/
updating any other server, or update it /after/ updating ALL other
servers -- so as to not have an update to the WSUS server that might cause a
failure in the WSUS server interfere with the successful updating of all
other servers.
