wuauclt /reportnow /detectnow from a command prompt

decides to update

Thanks

There's a control panel that does exactly this, although I can't remember the
name of it off the top of my head. It probably has the word "updates" in it
somewhere, though. :-)

Not surprisingly.. that would be at Control Panel | Windows Update

But if one has permissions to access Control Panel | Windows Update, one
should also be getting a Notification Icon that the updates are downloaded
and ready for installation.

The question here may not be "How to force the installation?"
but rather "Why aren't the updates downloading and installing
automatically!?"

btw.. if a Vista PC requires as many as 90 updates, then it probably does
not have Service Pack 2 installed, so I'd suggest perhaps first focusing on
installing Service Pack 2, and then the remainder of any updates that are
still reported as needed. (Note Vista SP2 requires that Vista SP1 be
installed first.)

The updates are getting to my Vista Pc and Service Pack 2 was one of them
and it installed then the number of updates dropped to 10

The question still is how to force the updates to a workstation

wuauclt /reportnow /detectnow seems to work once in awhile.

There should be a sure way to force the updates thru

Any thoughts on this

Thanks

Tom
