I'm running an OEM install of SBS SP1, which I just upgraded the other
week to R2.

WSUS was never working properly, although it recognized all the
computers and I approved all the updates I wanted, and configured them
to automatically install at a certain time.

I noticed there was an error, although only on one computer, and none
of the other computers updated:

"Error: Agent failed detecting with reason 0x8007000e"

I noticed that the WSUS tries to connect to the server on http://server:8530.
I tried going there, and got a 403.1 access denied.

I went into IIS and upgraded WSUS Administration to SharePoint
6.0.2.8117 and then configured it and created the virtual server. I
then can go to :8530 and it asks me for a username/password, which I
enter, but it doesn't accept.

Not really sure what is going on, and I think the OEM install which I
then upgraded didn't go over too well.

I have the automatic updates set to install today in under 2 hours, so
I guess we'll see if it works or not.

I'm probably doing (or have done) something wrong, so any advice or
tips would be appreciated.

Thanks...

My best suggestion is:

[a] Uninstall WSUS.

[b] Obtain and read the deployment documentation, specifically as regards
installation on SBS2003.

Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started with Windows Server Update Services on
Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=51211

[c] Reinstall WSUS following the documented guidance for installation on
SBS2003.
