Current server is named "server1", new server is "server2". Once I get
server2 synched to one can I rename it back to the original server without
any problems?

Server2 will end up running as WSUS 3.0, on Windows server 2003, WMSDE.

Probably.... but what's the point? Why not name the server properly *first*,
and then synchronize the system?

What will get mucked up is the upstream server's awareness of what it thinks
the downstream servers are.

Uh... no it won't, because WSUS 3.0 doesn't run on WMSDE.
