Single client on domain fails to update with WSUS (error = 0x80244

(This client is a brand new manuall installation)
Client runing windows XP SP2 and i installed the 3.1 installer thingy from
WU website manually to make sure it has it. once done it took the domain
ploicy and started to excute it properly which it didn't do pre sp2 (as
expected...)
client reports back to WSUS and there are updates marked both as "needed"
and as "detect only" if i expand the client in the wsus "computers" page (it
also marks status as "failed" with the error msg "Download failed, error
0x80244019"
So, client is up to date, does communicate and report to local wsus server,
is a domain member, has domain WU policy set correctly and all other clients
succesfully update but this one. Also, IE settings are set to bypass local
address in proxy settings and that is confirmed to be working ok)

0x80244019 is an HTTP '404' (File Not Found) error code. In this scenario it
can be caused by one of three conditions:
(1) URLScan is installed on the WSUS server and is blocking the download of
EXE files
(2) A proxy server is blocking the visibility of the file.
(3) The file is physically missing.
Try accessing this URL from IE on the affected client system to test
availabilty after reconciling (1) through (3) above.
