During a clean install of Windows Server 2008 X64 Standard Edition, an error
occurs: "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required
for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code
0x8007045D." This happens after the files have been copied from the DVD to
the RAM disk or hard disk (I don't know where Windows stores these files)
while expanding the files. Expanding doesn't go beyond 0%. During
installation, expanding and formating partitions seems to succeed. The same
server can run Windows Server 2003 X64 just fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello Jelle,

Maybe the installation disk is broken or your drive can not read it. Also
i would format the drive before installation.

Best regards

Hi Meinolf,

I checked the disk by copying all files from the DVD to a USB memory stick.
No errors were encountered, so the disk seems to be OK.

I now formated the partition before installation, but this did not solve the
problem either.

Any other thoughts before I abandon the idea of running 64-bit?

Kind regards,

Hello Jelle,

I have exactly the same problem.
It's a clean installation into an IBM Server.
Including the launch of pre-installation IBM SERVER GUIDE the problem appears.

How do you resolve it?

Thanks and regards
