Hello,

I installed R2 when it was first released on MSDN. I'll "upgrade" to the
final release once it's confirmed from MS.

Anyways, now that the Defender defs are delivered through Windows Update,
I'm having to go in every other day to approve them. Should they be
auto-approved, or can I change something to auto-approve them? I have Client
Computers set to High -- Approve all security updates, critical updates and
Service Packs for installation.

If they aren't auto-approvable now, consider this my vote for that. It's a
pain to go in every other day and approve them.

Thanks,

Dave Hampson

MU your box.. the 'final' patch for you is on the download site. Given
that the patch is Exchange sp2 that's the only way to 'upgrade'.

Nope, this is a pain.

With "regular" WSUS I have Definition Updates included in the Automatic
Approvals and they are working correctly. It's under Options, Automatic
Approval Options, Approve for Installation, Classifications. I included
Critical Updates, Definition Updates, and Security Updates. The Defender
definitions are automatically updating.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I can get to the "regular" WSUS. I thought about that
once, but never pursued that idea. I'll look into that later when I get
home, headed out for a bit.

Thanks for the idea,

Susan,

I just ran MU, nothing but a couple of old optional updates that I don't
need at the moment. I installed Exchange SP2 from the R2 disks, will MU
still show it, or should I just download and install it from MS?

Thanks,

Dave H.

It should offer up this:

Update for Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2: Update to Exchange
Server 2003 SP2:

You have regular WSUS... you will just disable the SBSized WSUS if you
do this and make it not do the daily checks.

Susan,

Guess I'll have to live with the annoyance then.

Microsoft,

Consider this another feature request. Include Defender defs in the Auto
Approve list, or give us the option to include them. I haven't see WSUS 3.0
yet, and I know it won't integrate with SBS, but hopefully that can be an
update to the SBS WSUS.

Thanks,

Dave H.

Susan,

I checked versions on a few of the files, I apparently have that update. I
just didn't remember applying it when it was delivered.

Thanks,

Dave H.
