The BPA of SBS 2008 throws up this issue:
Local activation permissin to the IIS WAMREG Admin Service required:
The Network Service is missing local activation permissions to the IIS
WAMREG admin Service in accordance with the event ID 10016 in the system
event log. For more information, see KB "Event ID error messages 10016 and
10017 are logged in the System log after you install Windows SharePoint
Services 3.0" at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=128063.

The instructions in the KB article have been followed but still the issue
does not resolve. Any suggestions?

Thanking you in advance,

Rajiv K Khandelwal

You may find these steps helpful as posted by another MVP on his Blog

To fix this issue, perform the following steps:

* From the SBS console, click Administrative Tools > Component Services
(or, if you prefer: click Run > comexp.msc)
* Expand down Component ServicesComputersMy ComputerDCOM Config
* Right click on IIS WAMREG Admin Service, then click Properties
Click on the Security tab
* Click the Edit... button within the Launch and Activation Permissions section
* Click Add and add the user named: 'Network Service'
(NB: this is the step that confuses people. Most instructions simply tell you to add the appropriate user, but do not make it clear which user to add!)
* Click on the checkbox to Allow (enable) the Local Activation rights option for this user
* Click OK twice, and close Component Services
* Finally reboot the server for good measure and to ensure the change takes effect

It can sometimes take a few days even after applying the fix before this goes away...

Please post SBS 2008 questions in the SBS08 NG,

Thanks Cris for your detailed mail. After applying, I am not getting the error in the event log. I shall wait for a few days (as mentioned by you) to see that BPA does not give it.
