I check the traget location of his my docs folder and it is pointing to his
local c:\ drive. I have tried to change this by going to properties and
typing but it doesn't change the entry. I have re-run the configure my
documents redirection wizzard - logged him off and on sveral times, no joy.
I have two questions to anyone who can help...
1. Any idea why this may have happened?
2. how do I change his my documents target location back to sbs?
I have been able to recover his data and copy it back to his local pc.
Thanks.
Thanks for you posting here!
For your description, I understand that you can not redirect My Documents
to server box. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
One thing we need to clarify that the Folder redirection policy will work
on Windows 2000/XP based clients only, the Windows 95/98 client does not
support group policy deployment.

Let"s try follow tests to trouble shoot the issue:
I. Have you also enabled Offline files and Roaming profile of domain users?
If so, please note that we should not use Offline Folder caching on roaming
user profile shared directories.
It is important to turn off Offline Folder caching for shared directories
where roaming user profiles are stored. If you do not turn off Offline
Folder caching for a user''s profile, you might experience synchronization
problems when both Offline Folders and roaming user profiles try to
synchronize the files in a user''s profile.
II. Please refresh the user account using Change User Permissions wizard
and then redirect the user my documents with Configure My Documents
Redirection wizard. Then run command "gpupdate /force" (no quotation marks)
in command prompt to force the group policy update to client computers.
The user logoff and logon the computer to see if the issue be fixed.
III. If the issue persists, please double check all your group policies to
ensure there is no other group policy override the My Document Redirection
policy.
When a computer starts and a user logs on, there is an order in which
computer policy and user policy are applied. I am afraid that your group
policy to OU users was overridden.

rHelp/b74be6d3-ea6c-432f-9240-61e73168021d.mspx
Please kindly help me collect some information to isolate the issue:
1. Does the issue happen on the only one user account or all domain users?
2. Have you enabled roaming profile and offline files?
3. Please run command "Gpresult /v > C:\gpver.txt" (no quotation marks)
respectively on the SBS server box and the problematic computer and then
send the C:\gpver.txt files to my mailbox: v-ya...@microsoft.com
4. Can you find any related error event in the event viewer of the server
and the problematic computer? If yes, please tell me the detail error
message.
I appreciate your time and efforts to perform test and collect information.
I am happy to be assistance of you and looking forward to your reply!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

thanks for helping out!
We are running XP Pro Sp2. Roaming profiles are not enabled. I've tried
your suggestion as per point II - no joy.
I have noticed that it says its synch'ing during logon/off but when I check
the Users folder on the server its out of synch. Also noticed that when the
client boots up the CMD window that runs is no longer appearing. The user's
account was also removed from our SharePoint Services Intranet.
Any further thoughts?
Regards.
Thanks for your update!
That when boot up, the CMD windows did not appear indicates that the user
logon script is not correct. Please double check the user account logon
script:
a. Locate Server Management console -> Users, right click the user account
to open its Properties page.
b. Click Profile tab, check if it is correct of Logon Script. By default:
it should be: SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat
Then try to run Change User Permissions wizard to refresh the user account
permissions. Then try to follow KB 230738 to reset the offline files cache
or database on the client computer. And then try to test, how about the
result?

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=230738
If the issue persists, please help me collect some log files for further
analyze:
a. change_user_permissions_wizard.log
It locates in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Support
b. Group policy report
c. Related error event message

re: 230738 How to Restart the Offline Files Cache/Database

I'm just wondering what effect this will have on the current my documents
folder since the target location is still point to the local c:\ drive?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks for your update!
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
Restart the offline files/database has not any side effect on your client
computer, the aim of the process is to isolate the issue. Regarding to
Folder Redirection group policy, the policy has applied to domain users.
For your now scenario, the group policy should be blocked and can not apply
to the user account when logon to domain. Please try the following
suggestions to try to resolve the issue:
I. Please perform a Clean Boot to test if there is any conflict with other
device drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.
A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that
are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with other device
drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.
1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer and check whether the problem still persists.
If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to
one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool
again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.
II. Please try to scan the client computer to see if it was infected by
Virus.
I would like to give you some information about definition updates and free
online scans from the most popular anti-virus software vendors. To protect

III. Please try to logon other client computers using the user account, how
about the result?
IV. Please Logon the client computer using the user account, open the
registry editor (regedit). Check the value data of ''Personal'' registry in
the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
What is value of the Personal registry key?
Please try to disable Folder Redirection of My Documents and then check
"Personal" value of above both registry keys, does they looks like:
C:\Documents and Settings\domainuseraccount\My Documents
%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\domainuseraccount\My Documents
If not, please try to change them as that and tell me the accurate vaules.
And then try to redirect My Documents again, how about the result?
If the issue persists, please help me collect more information for further
analyze:
1. Enable the folder redirection debug log for further research.
a. Go to a client computer. Open registry editor. Navigate to the following
registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics
Note: If the Diagnostics key does not exist, please right click the
CurrentVersion key and select New->Key to create it.
b. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry
value:
Value Name: FDeployDebugLevel
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0x0F
c. Quit Registry Editor. Restart the workstation. The log file can be found
at %windir%\debug\usermode\fdeploy.log. Please send the log to me for
further research.
2. Please set UserEnvDebugLevel to 0x00010002 to enable userenv debug
logging on the server computer, then log off and log on, and then wait
minutes to send me the userenv log for analysis.
