Hi,
I would like the server to lookup every 3min if a new e-
mail arrived.
The minimum avable is 15 min.!
Is it possible to change this value in the regedit?
Where?

Thanks a lot

Eman:

Lookup a product called PopBeamer. Yet another non-MS
product to make MS's products better.

Not with the Microsoft POP3. You would need to go with a 3rd party solution
... POPBeamer and GFI are two such solutions. Or, simply don't tell your
users that the email only comes every 15 minutes. My experience is that if
you don't tell them, they'll never notice and will never complain. I have a
law firm that worked of the POP3 for several years without the 15 minute
delay ever becoming an issue.

Hi Emanuel

There actually is a registry hack available which I have been reluctant to
post in the public NG which I got from partners because it is dangerous if
set too low.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! IF A NEW DOWNLOAD STARTS BEFORE THE LAST ONE
FINISHES YOU WILL LOSE MAIL!! I suggest you not use a value lower than 3
and 2 would be safer. Popbeamer is a far better approach.

You can set the polling interval in the GUI if you view the properties
of the POP3 Connector Manager, and then click the "Scheduling" tab. To set
the polling interval so that polling occurs more frequently than every 15
minutes, you must configure the ScheduleAccelerator registry entry. Please
try the following steps:

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

1. Click "Start", click "Run", type "regedit" (without the quotation
marks) in the "Open" box, and then click "OK".

2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Network\POP3
Connector"

3. On the "Edit" menu, point to "New", and then click "DWORD Value".

4. Type "ScheduleAccelerator" (without the quotation marks) as the entry
name, and then press ENTER.

5. On the "Edit" menu, click "Modify".

6. In the "Value data" box, type the value that you want, and then click
"OK". To determine the polling interval, the value that is configured on
the "Scheduling" tab in the GUI is divided by the value that you type for
the ScheduleAccelerator entry. For example, if a 15 minute interval is
specified in the GUI and you set the value of the ScheduleAccelerator
entry to 3, the connector will poll ever five minutes.

7. Quit Registry Editor.
