I don't use ISA, so I'm not sure how that fits in....but it's likely an ISA
problem....
Have you tried going to http://server/remote from the LAN?
Don't open port 80 - use 443 and users should use https://
i tried to going to http://server/remote from Land. Then there comes
the "connect to..." Loginwindow where i set the as UserName:
Administrator and the corresponding Password. After OK the same window
comes up and once again and then there comes the standard error page.
(the customErrors Mode Tag in the web.config is set to on).
Arnold
the error message was:
"Access to the path
"C:\WINDOWS\MICROSOFT.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files\remote\3f1585d2\3070828a" is denied".
hope this a information for you to help me.
Arnold
Thank you for posting back!
I am sorry for the delayed reply since I was ill on last Friday.
I understand that after you input three times credential in RWW log on
page, you encountered error message. In order to supplement your
description, I need your help to gather the following information:
1. Can you access RWW from the SBS Server Console
(https://localhost/remote)?
2. Does this issue occur to all clients or only certain clients?
3. When did the issue occur? Could you access RWW before? Did you make any
changes or install any software on the SBS Server recently?
4. Can you access OWA from the problematic client workstation
(https://servername/exchange)?
5. On the problematic client workstation, open IE -> Tools -> Internet
Options -> Advanced -> Uncheck the box "Show friendly HTTP error messages".
Close IE and open IE again. Reproduce the issue, capture a screen shot for
the error message and send it to the Newsgroup.
Please take your time to perform the steps and I am looking forward to
hearing from you!

Thanks for your update.
I am Crina, backup of Brandy. Since Brandy has taken leave, I will continue
to work on the issue with you.
From all the thread, I understand that you cannot access the RWW site of
the SBS server and you got error "Access to the path
C:\WINDOWS\MICROSOFT.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files\remote\3f1585d2\3070828a is denied". If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, there are several causes for this error. We can check
the following:
1. This issue may occur if the file named Web.config is located in wwwroot
folder. So please go to c:\Inetpub\wwwroot, check whether there is a file
named Web.config, if yes, please try to remove Inetpub\wwwroot\web.config
and then run IISReset. By default, this file does not exist in
inetpub\wwwroot.
2. Check if the Local Service and Network Service accounts do not have Full
Control to the "Temporary ASP.NET Files" folder. To resolve this issue,
please follow these steps:
1) Add IIS_WPG, Local Service and Network Service account Read & Execute,
List Folder Contents, and Read permissions to
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322.
2) Add IIS_WPG, Local Service and Network Service account Full Control
permission to %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET
Files.
3. Open ''Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager'' console in
''Administrative Tools'' on the SBS 2003 server. Expand <Server
Name>\''Application Pools''. Make sure the DefaltAppPool is running.
4. Expand ''Web Sites''\''Default Web Site''. Right-click ''Remote'' and
click ''Properties''. In the ''Virtual Directory'' tab, check the
''Application settings''. You should see ''Remote'' in the Application name
bar and ''DefaultAppPool'' in the ''Application pool'' bar. You may refer
to the screen-shoot.
5. Also in the properties window, click ''Directory Security'' tab, click
''Edit'' button. Make sure anonymous access is enabled.
6. Run "iisreset" and then check if the issuer still occurs.
Please also try the solution in the following Knowledge Base article and
see if it helps:
823379 You receive a "Server Error in '/' Application. Access to the path
<path> is denied" error message when you log on to Windows SharePoint
Services
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=823379
In addition, please check the following to see if all are correct:
1. Open IIS manager and then expand Server name | Web Sites | Default Web
Site.
2. Right click Remote and select Properties.
3. On Directory Security tab, click Edit on Authentication and access
control column.
4. Make sure only the following boxes are checked:
Enable anonymous access (IUSER_<ServerName>)
Integrated Windows authentication
5. In the "IP address and domain restrictions" section, click the Edit
button.
6. Make sure "Granted access" is selected and there are no items in the
list box.
7. Click the "Documents" tab.
8. Make sure "Enable default content page" is select and the following
items are listed in order:
Default.htm
Default.asp
index.htm
iisstart.asp
Default.aspx
If any items are missing, please add them and make them the correct order.
9. Click Start->Run, type "iisreset" (without the quotation marks) and
click OK. Then check if RWW works.
If the issue still occurs, would you please help me collect the following
information for troubleshooting?
1. Try to access https://localhost/remote and http://servername/remote from
the SBS server and check if you are able to visit RWW properly.
2. Can you access RWW when you right click the Remote and select Browse on
IIS Manager | Server name | Web Sites | Default Web Site?
3. Rerun CEICW to reconfigure IIS and RWW, can the issue be resolved?
4. Are there any errors on Event log?
Hope the above information helps.
I am appreciated your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

Thank you for your email! I am Cliff, the owner of this newsgroup and I am Crina's backup during her leave.
I understand that currently you can access RWW from the LAN but not from the Internet. If this is the case this should be a site publishing issue. I suggest you now
perform the following steps to re-publish the RWW site and check if you can access it from the Internet:
1. On the SBS 2003 Server open the Server Management console. Go to Standard Management\To Do List.
2. Click the "Connect to the Internet" link.
3. Choose not to change the connection type and click Next. On the Firewall page, select "Enable firewall" and click Next (I suppose you have 2 network adapters in SBS
2003 and if you only have 1 network adapter you will not see the page and you can go to step 6).
4. On the "Services Configuration" page, select all the items and then click Next.
5. On the "Web Services Configuration" page, make sure "Allow access to the entire Web site from the Internet" is selected. If you select "Allow access to only the
following Web site services from the Internet", make sure the "Remote Web Workplace" item is selected. Click Next.
6. On the "Web Server Certificate" page, choose to create a new Web server certificate and then type the public FQDN that you will use to access OWA (for example, if
your public FQDN that you use to access the sites is mail.domain.com, you should type mail.domain.com as the new certificate name). If you do not have a public FQDN,
you can type your public static IP address here as your certificate. If you already requested a certificate with the name "mail.domain.com" from a third party CA, you can
choose "Use a Web server certificate from a trusted authority" and then import the certificate.
7. Go through the remaining steps. The wizard will automatically configure the SBS 2003 Basic Firewall or ISA to securely publish the two sites.
8. If you have a router or hardware firewall, configure it to forward inbound traffic on TCP port 80 and 443 to the SBS server's external address.
9. Then check if you can access RWW using https://mail.domain.com/remote.
Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Cliff Zhang

Hello Cliff,
thank you for your answer.
The Problem was that i installed not the correct certificate for this
domian.
Now it works. Thanks a lot.
But i have one more question:
if i now access http://FQDN then there appear a site "Welcome ... Small
Business Server" with 4 Links.
1. My Companys internal website...
2. Network...
3. Remote...
4. ...
How can i cause SBS not to do this.
I will later use this http://FQDN for the external web site.
sincerely
Arnold
Thank you for posting back and we're happy to hear that the original issue
has been resolved.
For the 2nd question, I'd like to provide the following info for your
reference:
1. The Default Web Site has the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\default.htm as the
default home page.
2. You can put the new site under C:\inetpub\wwwroot folder.
3. Rename the orignal default.htm to defaul.ht_.
[Note] Please do not delete other folders or virtual directories under
Default Web Site in IIS. Changing other settings will cause some features
in SBS not working properly (such as backup and monitoring...).
4. If you want to configure which file under C:\inetpub\wwwroot as the
default web page, follow these steps:
a) Open IIS.
b) Open Default Web Site properties.
c) Click Documents tab.
d) Click Add to key in the file name that you want to set as home page.
I hope the above info helps.
If you have further questions or the above suggestion does not work, I
recommend you to create a new thread in SBS newsgroup or in IIS newsgroup
to keep this thread clean.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to hearing from you
here again.
