I am having some trouble using the Internet Connection Firewall on Win2k3
server to forward services to a back-end machine. I realise it is possible
to use the RRAS service to do port forwarding, however I need to use the
ability to forward to a *named* host, which oddly only the ICF port
forwarding settings seems to provide.
The protocol is using basic TCP - opening more ports is not the issue.
Connectivity between the machines works perfectly too. The only other issue
I can see is that the machine running the firewall is only using one
interface (ie packets arrive, and will be dispatched, from the same NIC).
I would be extremely grateful if anyone could shed any light on this
problem.
Thanks,
Jay

I think you're correct in that assumption - I suspected it at first too, but
wasn't able to find any documentation supporting my suspicions. In fact,
the MSKB article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308127&Product=winxp
seems to suggest that it is possible to port foward using ICF alone.
Thankfully I've managed to find some third party port-forwarding software -
so my issue is solved - but if you could forward this as some kind of
support issue to the powers that be, I'm sure others would benefit in
future.

Jay
