I can't get the windows installation to start. The error is:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

I have a Win 2003 RIS server set up on the network and the windows setup
isn't seeing the array. I am trying to install win 2003 r2 on my Dell PV 745n.

I have the four SATA drives set up in a raid 5 array right now. Could this
be causing the problem?

I have tried installing from CD but I get the same error. I have also tried
using the latest Dell server administration CD (the one to prep an OS
install) but that didn't work either.

Here's my unattend.txt

This is a PV745n with the hardware SATA controller.
I got the CERC driver from the Dell Support page for this particular server.
I got the Intel 31244 driver from the Intel Support site.

These driver files are situated under both the following paths:
D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\WINDOWS\i386\$OEM$\$1\CERCSATA
D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\WINDOWS\i386\$OEM$\TEXTMODE

I'm new to RIS deployments so I'm hoping one of you can point out my
mistake. Please be very descriptive in any response you can provide.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I also posted this in the Dell forums but I usually get faster and better
quality responses here. The link below goes to the full thread, where
somebody has apparently gotten it to work on the same server. Unfortunately,
I have not so I'm hoping somebody can point out my mistake.

Not 100% sure on this one, but have you tried copying the necessary driver
files into:

D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\WINDOWS\i386 as well?? I know when
you update network drivers, i.e. have a new network card, you need to copy
the drivers directly into the i386 folder, as well as into the OEM folder as
you have done. You then have to do a net stop binlsvc, and net start
binlsvc. RIS then sees the new drivers, and creates the necessary .PNP file
for them.

Then in your default .sif file (same path as above, in i386\templates) I
believe you put the settings in that you mentioned. I am going to try and
find a sample of my .sif file...I have 2 Dell 2850 servers with SCSI
RAID...but I don't think I had to do anything...2003 Server already had those
RAID drivers.
