Hi there.

I'm having a problem here to join a Windows Server 2003 as a member server
of a Windows Server 2003 Domain.

I have the old server (a domain controller and the only server on my
network) running fine for over 3 years now, with Windows Server 2003 SP1,
and I have some Windows XP desktop machines that log wihout a problem to our
domain.

Now I have a new machine that will replace our old server. So, I've done a
clean install of Windows Server 2003 SP1 on that new machine and tried to
join the domain (before doing anything else). I'm asked to give valid user
name and password that have permission to add the new server to the domain,
and after a few seconds I get the error message:

[Computer Name Changes]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MyDomain.local":

The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's no message about the problem in the new machine event viewer,
neither in the old server event viewer.

I can access the folders of the old server, from the new one, by using
\\OldServerName\ (\\OldServerName\c$, \\OldServerName\NETLOGON and
\\OldServerName\SYSVOL are all accessible too), as well as the other
desktops on the network. But I can't access the new machine from the old
one.

I can also navigate the internet on the new machine, pointing the LAN
settings to a proxy server (the old server name).

I'm using ISA Server 2004 on the old server and already tried disabling the
RPC protocol stuff that exist on 3 firewall policies.

I've already took a look at the DNS server on the old machine and noticed
that there were entries for older machines that we don't use anymore,
wasting some IP addresses, so I deleted those. I also tried creating
manually an entry for the new machine on the old DNS server, using the
address 192.168.0.77, and tried fixing this IP on the new machine, instead
of using DHCP addresses.

The old server has two network adapters, one for the LAN and the other for
our cable internet connection, and the new machine has only one network
adapter.

Please, does anyone know what else can I do to solve the problem?

TIA,
Lobo.

Are you using ISA 2000 or 2004?

Yes, ISA Server 2004, as I stated on my post. Any ideas?

Bingo! I've just installed ISA Server 2004 SP2 and after that the new server
machine joined the domain smoothly. Thanks a lot, MS User2006!
