Software Inventory

Hi,

I would like to take the Hardware/Software inventory of all the systems
in AD domain.
Can any one recommend good software for the same ? Open source and
commercial.
I wont mind even if i have to execute scripts at users logon. Only
thing i am looking for is reliable results.

Please help me with this.
