Security log full caused users to be locked out

I have a 2003 server and XP clients. The security log was full and
shut down the server. I cleared the log but now the users can't access
their data on the server. When they try to get to the server via my
network places they get the error "server is not accessible. You might
not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions". Then below that is says "logon failure: user account
restriction possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon
hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced".
Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months until the audit
log got full.
