If u have all these problems maybe u have installed a PowerChute Business
Edition Customers 6.x!
If is so, u must to upgrade to the upper version immediatly because this
version " cease to operate normally as of July 27, 2005 " as APC write in
this link

http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=z17xd9Mh&p_lva=&p_faqid=7202&p_created=1119891241&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD03MjAyJnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMT1_YW55fiZwX3Byb2RfbHZsMj1_YW55fiZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=

APC don't say that this old version can hang your server after this date but
we have 30 servers (windows 2000 & 2003 ) with all the same problem.
The most frequently proble is wit a long delay with logon, and the
impossibility to stop or starting the services or to modify it, after the
first restart later the July 27, 2005

To workaround the problem, u have to restart your server in safe mode and
then modify the services "APC PBE Agent" & "APC PBE Server" to not start
at startup.

I hope that can help u.

Kind Regards,

Sergio M.

It never ceases to amaze me at the absolutely horrific level of quality of
the APC software all the way back to power-chute versions 7 or 8 years
ago. We had NT servers where half the RAM in use was from APC software,
strange hangs, etc... and it has only gotten worse with their latest java
monstrosities.

Outright power failures around here are fairly rare and so I'm a bad boy
and just don't run any ups software from them. Server's takes a hard
power fail every few years when there's an extended power outage; big
deal. A lot less of a problem then dealing with the power-chute Schlemiel
[1].

Is there any third party UPS management software for proper server
shutdown that people use with success under windows server products?
