I need some help with folder/file security.
We have just setup a new DFS root and copied over hundreds of folders.
The Share Permissions are Everyone Full Controll
The NTFS Permissions are being set for Read Only/ Read Write/ etc...
*This works great.. BUT
There are subfolders that groups will need access to but not the parent.
So there is a folder\\shared\test
There is a subfolder \\shared\test\abc
I want people to have access to "abc" but not test.
With the NTFS Permissions I can add a group and remove everything but
With playing with NTFS permissions, I can add the group to the folder TEST
with List/Read on the folder only and then Read Write on the ABC folder and
the user can traverse to the ABC folder. And not have access to any other
files or folders within test. However, they can still list those files and
folders that they do not have access to... How can we prevent this listing
of resources that they do not need.
Please Help, thanks!
