Printing problems

A couple of days ago a problem occured on my printer server (Win 2000 Server) that really confuses me...
When our users print to the shared printers, the job pops up in the printer queue and everything seems OK.
When the buffering is done, the print job dissapears ad no jobs are printed?

OK, here´s the fun part...
This problem does NOT occur every time... Sometimes it works fine and sometimes... well... nothing...
I checked the logs and there are no indications of any errors?
It´s not something that happens only when there are heavy loads on the server either. The print jobs dissapear
even if the print job is small and no one else is printing.

The environment:
Clients: Win 2000 Pro.
Domain server(s): Win 2000 Server (with AD) for authentication.
Print server: Win 2000 Server.
Print logging software: PCounter 2.11a.
Printers: HP CP1700, HP LaserJet 4050, HP DesignJet 120, Ricoh Aficio 6010.

Most of the printers are mapped throught external IP print-servers such as EasyCom Xpress and JetDirect.
The clients and the servers are all patched with the latest upgrades and service packs by the way.
