I guess my concern stems from the fact that you cannot go backwards
with your domain structure. You can go from NT 4 to Windows 2000 to
Windows 2003 but you cannot go backwards. Will a Windows 2000 domain
merge into an NT 4 domain successfully?
Thanks in advance!
I'm no expert on domains, but I believe that NT 4 does not support
hierarchical domains (ie forrest etc). It only supports trusts.
And to get that to work, you don't have to move anything, only establish a
permanent trust.

Wrong terminology on my part - by NT 4 I meant mixed mode... Anyway, I
was able to answer my own question in a test environment. Here are the
details if others out there attempt the same thing.
Just to reiterate my goals here, I was trying to merge a native mode
domain (Domain B) in a seperate forest into another domain that was
running in mixed mode (Domain A).
Note: To successfully allow the test merge, DNS needs to be correctly
setup. Since both DCs were Windows Server 2003, just set the DNS
forwarding to the other domain...
After I setup the 2 test servers and the DNS I attempted the merge.
Not possible! I'm greeted with this message "The target domain is not
native mode." ...So looks like I'll have to have sepreate domains
w/trusts or something until everything can be moved to native mode.
