Hi,
In Windows server 2003, assume a RDP seesion is in place and the remote
host's IP is assigned by a DCHP server. What would happen if the DHCP server
wants to assign a new IP to the remote host?
Will the connection end? or,
Will the server wait till the connection is gracefully ended by the user and
then assign a new IP to the remote host?

Thanks
Yba

Hello Yba,

If you configure remote desktop for automatically reconnect it should reconnect
even if the ip is changed, of course only DNS registration is done correct
or you didn't connect with the ip address.

Hello,
Sorry for the confusion. I was in fact concerned about knowing the DHCP
server behavior, rather than the RDP session. The RDP in my example was just
an example of an established connection. I want to know if the IP of a
system would change by a DHCP server during an established connection or not?

Regards
Yba
