Is this referring to the primary or the secondary?

"The next thing that you will have to do is to open the DNS console by
selecting the DNS option from the server’s Administrative Tools menu.
Navigate through the console tree to DNS | your server | Forward Lookup Zone
(be sure to click the plus sign next to the Forward Lookup Zone container
even though there are no sub-containers). Now, right click on the Forward
Lookup Zone container and select the New Zone command from the resulting
shortcut menu. This will cause Windows to launch the New Zone wizard."

We have the primary DNS server but no secondary.

Thank you.

Hi,

From there, you can create on your server primary zones and secondary zones
(which are located on another server).

Have a nice day!

Hello BrianMultiLanguage,

If the server is a domain controller, make sure the additional DNS server
is using only the first DNS server as preferred on the NIC. On the running
DNS machine, check that it runs Active directory integrated zones, so all
DNS zone information will be replicated with AD to the other DNS server,
except the server properties. Advantage is that both DNS servers are able
to add new records to the zones, if you use a secondary server this is just
a read-only copy of the primary. So if the first use AD integr. zones you
only have to install DNS server via add/remove programs. After that wait
at least 15 minutes and all zone information will be copied. If everything
is copied reconfigure the preferred DNS on the NIC to itself and the other
server as secondary DNS, the same do for the other DNS server.

Best regards
