I have ICS setup on my server using NAT translations
I'm getting the net from the server, but on workstations only if I use an ip
number but not with a domain name.

I guess i have a DNS problem but i cant seem tgo spot it
I have set it up before with no problems.

Any help??

What DNS server are your clients pointing at? Are you running DNS on your
server?

Do you have a local DNS server`? If so, you should point your clients to
this DNS-server, and then forward from there to your ISP's DNS-server. If
you do not have a local DNS-server, you can point your clients to your ISP's
DNS-server, and it might work.

Hope this helps!

Have you 192.168.0.1 ip address on ICS machine?

In news:ezwshDlW...@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl,
Alan <al...@home.com>, posted their thoughts, then I offered my thoughts down
below:

Running a DNS server internally and ICS is conflicting since ICS acts as a
DNS proxy for the clients.

Now, if you're not running DNS internally, and not using AD, and would like
to continue using ICS, set your internal clients to use DHCP and they will
get an address from your ICS server and the appropriate DNS address (the ICS
itself) and it will proxy out the request to the DNS address configured on
the external interface for your clients.

Now this can also be another issue, depending on your link. If using ADSL,
this maybe an MTU issue. With using the wrong MTU, you can use IP but names
won't resolve properly using a browser. Read up and run the tests here to
determine that:
