Ryan,
Here is the earlier reply from Thomas.
The post is, BTW, still there, so perhaps you should consider
using Outlook Express or another newsreader rather than the
web interface.
Just point the news client to msnews.microsoft.com
In message <042d01c34395$5f80a3c0$a501...@phx.gbl>, Ryan

No. When you ask a DNS server for a record, it returns you everything it
can find (or a suitable error message).

You do this with DHCP. Setup the servers that are handing out 211
addresses to have one DNS server etc.

Strictly speaking it does not give differing IP addresses based on
subnet, it just sorts them based on networks.
But to answer your question: No.

The problem is:
X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000
This 'newsreader' does not handle the references header properly and
breaks. It's been a but in MS's news client software for some time,
although I though it was fixed (in OE at least) by the big patch.

Yes. You are using the web intereface and it's broken:
X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000

DNS does not work this way. It's designed to return ALL the records it
knows about.

You do this by using DHCP to assign the 'right' DNS server.

It changes the order of records returned, it does not limit the number.

The answer I gave last time is that this something you can do easily.
I believe that is header from use of the MS web interface to the NGs.
The one or two times I explored that interface I can see why one cannot
find a reply even if the threading is not mixed up.

CDO is broken, even though some will argue the point!
But in this case, it simply can't handle the references header...
Sorry I can't break my news client enough to have it work with MS's
rfc-non-compliant interface. :-) in case of doubt.
