I have a standalone Windows Server 2003 R2 (static IP 192.168.1.1)
connected directly to a router (static IP 192.168.1.138). The Server
hosts multiple websites setup to one static external IP.

Accessing the websites externally works perfectly. I have also editied
the HOSTS file on the Windows Server for internal access.

Also connected to the router is a Windows SBS 2003 (static IP
192.168.1.2). The install is standard, with AD, DNS and DHCP. There are
client machines connected to this network.

If I try to access one of the websites from the SBS Server or client
machine, e.g. ww.website1.com, all i get is the router interface page
at IP 192.168.1.138. I can edit the HOSTS file on the SBS Server and
get access to the website instead of router interface but that would
mean having to update the HOSTS file on all the client PCs connected to
the SBS Server also.

Can I edit the DNS on the SBS Server so that it directs internal SBS
traffic to all websites held on my Windows Server, otherwise direct
everything else to the Internet?

Yes, on the SBS server create standard primary zones for each of the
sites/domains hosted on the web server with host records pointing to
192.168.1.1. This works fine on standard Windows DNS servers and presumably
will work on SBS.

I got it working in the end. I just accepted all the default values
when setting up the new zones then after set up the (A) record with a
blank name pointing to webserver and after some time (for DNS to
propagate...?) it worked across all client PCs.

Thanks for your help.

BTW all the websites have favicons, but when looking at the websites
internally, the browser uses the favicon of the router config page!
