Hi. I have a client who has built his own SBS server and somehow managed to
mess up DNS. The domain name is company.local, but looking at AD U & C, the
fqdn for the server shows as server.company. PC's show as pc.company.local.
Not sure how he managed to do this, but now running dcdiag before installing
Exchange I get rcode_server_failure and several other weird issues.

The question is, can I change the fqdn for the server and how do I do
it? Bearing in mind that it is SBS, I can't demote and re-promote.

TIA

Andrew

Hi,
The errors in the event log are netlogon 5781, 5782 & 5774. The article
looks promising, so I will have a try when I get a chance, but I'm a little
(lot!!) wary as it is a SBS box with of course no alternate DC. Risky.

Thanks

Andrew
