One of my AD Integrated DNS Servers is getting it's Event Log loaded with
4015 errors. I haven't found any KB articles relating to this and nothing
applicable via Internet searches, any suggestions to resolve the issue would
be greatly appreaciated. I've checked AD/System/MicrosoftDNS and there is no
object that matches the one listed in the error.

Server is W2K3R2 w/ SP2
Windows 2003 Forest with single Windows 2003 Domain

The error from the Event Log is:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: DNS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4015
Date: 3/10/2008
Time: 2:41:55 PM
User: N/A
Computer: XXX-PRINT1
Description:
The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory.
Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly. The extended error
debug information (which may be empty) is "0000208F: NameErr: DSID-031001BA,
problem 2006 (BAD_NAME), data 8349, best match of:
'DC=DI-614+,DC=xxx.org,cn=MicrosoftDNS,cn=System,DC=xxx,DC=org'". The event
data contains the error.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 22 00 00 00 "...

TIA for any assitance...

Thank you for the links, they are the same ones I found in my search :(

There is one linked/similar thread that I didn't notice initially though, I
will follow up with some of the suggestions in that thread to verify settings
on my servers.

The server in question passes Netdiag and Dcdiag tests btw. In the domain
there are 7 DNS servers total; 2 in the central site and 1 each in 5 WAN
sites all are connected via MPLS...

Hi

I have got this error since last year, and it always comes with other event
ID like 4000, 4004,4013. And I have to restart the server to be able get the
DNS up and ruuning again each time (restart DNS services won't work).
May I ask do you have McAfee version 8 installed on server? apparently there
is some thing to do with McAfee that I have not tried i.e. uninstall

Cheers

No Luck with the steps from that thread. I made the zone a Standard Primary
(removed from AD) ran dcdiag /fix and Netdiag /fix and then put it back to AD
Integrated....still the exact same 4015 error....

Quick update on this issue:
The "DI-614+" is a D-Link AirPlus Wireless Router, looks like someone has
patched one in on my Network....found it in DHCP. I'll be setting a
Reservation for it in DHCP to a null Network Address...
