We have two domain controllers which run active directory integrated DNS
servers.

My question is:
Is it possible to setup a third server as a domain member (NOT a domain
controller) with windows DNS and replicate/transfer DNS zones from the two
active directory integrated DNS servers?

Or do AD integrated DNS servers only work with other AD integrated DNS
servers which are in turn domain controllers.

Finally, if an AD integrated DNS server does NOT need to be installed on a
domain controller how does one force propigation of all the AD integrated
zones?

Thanks,
Brad

Hello Brad,

Yes, you can use it as Secondary server, which will store a copy of the existing
zone. But this is a read-only copy. You can not add entry's on this.

We have approximately 500-700 DNS zones. Will it automatically propigate
them all over to the non-domain controller DNS server? It doesn't seem to,
and I can't seem to find any way to force it to propigate over.

Thanks Again
Brad

I'm still not sure how to get this working. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Brad
