I can't get my non-domain member XP clients to update my Windows 2003
DNS. I tried the following so far without any luck:
1) Changed my DNS domain to 'Nonsecure and secure' dynamic updates
2) Changed my DHCP server to 'Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records'
3) Changed my DHCP server to 'Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records for
DHCP clients that do not requet updates'
4) Stopped/Started DNS server
5) Stopped/Started DHCP server
6) Ipconfig Released/Renewed from client
7) Ipconfig /registerdns from client
Not sure what to try next. What am I missing?

I created a new account and for testing purposes, added it to the domain
admins group. I deleted the DHCP registration for a client, did a
release/renew but didn't see any update in the forward lookup zone. But then
it occured to me... Where SHOULD I see the update if the client isn't part of
the domain? I have the DHCP handing out the DNS suffix to non-domain members
which is the same as the AD domain. Even though these non-domain members are
in a workgroup should their dynamic dns records show up in the forward lookup
zone for the AD domain? I did see a PTR record get created however. So, I
have the PTR but no dynamic A record. I even created a zone named after the
workgroup name of the PC. That didn't resolve it either. I tried
starting/stopping the DNS and DHCP servers. I tried an ipconfig /registerdns
on the PC whenever I would do an ipconfig /release and renew. No luck so far.
