We have a Windows 2003 domain with bridge all site links enabled, we are
planning to introduce windows server 2008 rodc in our branch offices, Is
there any recommendation on either enabling/disabling the above said feature
when using RODC?

Howdie!

That feature should affect your deployment strategy for RODCs. As long
as you make sure that the Active Directory sites and services topology
matches the logical site topology, you're good.

Cheers,
Florian

Hello Tam,

In a pure Windows server 2008 site link bridging is enabled by default, different
then in Windows server 2003. But as you already have it enabled, it should
be fine.

You have to keep in mind that the RODC MUST be able to replicate the domain
partition from a Windows server 2008 RWDC, as only this one can enforce the
Password Replication Policy (PRP) for an RODC.

See here about more details:

As long as the network is still fully routed it makes no difference. Leave
alone.

Florian,
My guess is you forgot a not in the line "That feature should affect your
deployment strategy for RODCs"
I believe it should state "That feature should "not" affect your deployment
strategy for RODCs"

Yeah, correct. It should NOT affect the deployment. Thanks, Paul!

Hi
The recommendation is to set up those objects according with your routed
network topology. IF that Fails, all your DCs will be affected.
So... Make it right and you should have any problems.

this really depends on how your environment looks like...

* is it fully routed?
* would you accept possible connections between branch office DCs?
(writables)
* Are you placing RODCs in ALL branches and writables only in the HUB(s)?
* how many layers of branch offices do you have and in which ones do you
plan to have RODCs?
