Hi guys,

the scenario is 3 ADAM instance on 3 Windows 2003 Server that replicate a
application partition.

In the last week i have some problem with a server and so try to uninstall
with the "brute force" adam instance on a server but i see that same
replication error now is logged on other 2 adam server.

I think that exist any information about the old dead adam server on the
other ADAM server and with dsmgt and metadata cleanup command try to remove
the dead server but when i start the last command "Remove selected server"
this error was show :

"DsRemoveDsServerW error 0x57(The parameter is incorrect.)"

The exactly sequence of command is this :

run dsmgmt.exe

- Metadata cleanup
- connections
- connect to server <127.0.0.1:30000.
-quit
-Select operation target
-List sites
-select site 0 (my onlyone site)
-List servers in site and see the number of adam srever dead (2)
-select server 2
-quit
-Remove selected server + enter and the error was show :-(

What happend ? How i can remove the dead server ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

you need to use the

Remove selected server %s on %s

menu item from the meta clean sub-menu e.g. to remove the metadata for

"CN=VPC-MEM2$instance1,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,CN={2215D1A1-A343-426D-9078-C725
E1167809}"

---
C:\WINDOWS\ADAM>dsmgmt
dsmgmt: meta clean
metadata cleanup: remove selected server
"CN=VPC-MEM2$instance1,CN=Servers,CN=De
fault-First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,CN={2215D1A1-A343-426D-9078-C725
E1167809}" on localhost:389
Binding to localhost:389 ...
Connected to localhost:389 using credentials of locally logged on user.
Transferring / Seizing FSMO roles off the selected server.
LDAP error 0x5e(94 (No result present in message).
)
Unable to determine the domain hosted by the DC (5). Please use the
connection m
enu to specify it.

"CN=VPC-MEM2$instance1,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configu
ration,CN={2215D1A1-A343-426D-9078-C725E1167809}" removed from server
"localhost

---

You can ignore the 0x5e error about the FSMO role transfer that's a known
issue.
