Hi,

Just to follow up. meant to start a new thread, was
getting buried below.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;257734

this seems to be my problem. I am getting access denied.
I find a few other windows 2000 professional clients (but
not all) also have the same error in their event log.
Only one of the clients has an underscore, the other PC
names do not.

i have 2 2003 DCs and 1 NT4 BDC in 2003 Interim mode.

I went through the steps in the KB article. The everyone
group is in the policy to access this computer from the
network. What could this be?

Am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks

greg

It looks like if I go into Active directory users and
computers, right click on the computer giving the error,
going to the security tab of properties (showing advanced)
and giving authenticated users full control , the event
stops.

I find this very odd though as machines that do not get
the event 5788 and 5789 also do not have these permissions
set.

Seems to be win2k boxes (not XP) only ...

any idea why this is? I just like to understand why this
is happening.
