What’s the correct way to install application data that is common to
all users?

I tried creating a “Common Files Folder” but this doesn’t give me the
correct folder under Vista. (It gives me Program Files/Common Files.)

I don’t see anything in VS2005 that will let me create a common
application data folder.

I have been putting the data in the app folder, but I haven’t found a
reliable way to access the app folder at runtime. I also don’t even
know if this a recommended practice.

Regards,

This is a "Setup and Deployment" project in Visual Studio, BTW.

Setting my "Common App Data Folder" default location to
[CommonAppDataFolder] seems to put the data in the correct place.

Is this an acceptable strategy?

Yes, that is the correct destination folder. You don't have to create it
because it's a Windows sytem folder, and always exists. Rob
