Using WMM

I like the program ( even over store-bought's) BUT it seems to only work in
a small space , constantly page faulting etc. It's the only thing running on
a PC with 1Gb of memory and it only uses about 300k of memory. If I try to
create a movie with a LOT of pictures (500+) it - OFTEN will hang system.
If I start Task Manager when I open WMM, I might see 20 million page
faults - and it's still working ok - just SLOW. Or it might hang -
unpredictable.

Is there any way to tweak this app ? TO "give it more memory space" for
example". Or does someone know of a store-bought with a similar interface ?
I've tried others and don't like their 'way of doing things' as I do with
WMM.

I thought MediaCenter would integrate a means of creating movies on CD/DVD
but having a MC laptop, it does nothing special for me. TO make a movie I
still need an app like WMM.
AND if I could drop .MOV files, a "non-hanging WMM' would be ideal.

Try creating smaller projects. Actually you could
create several smaller projects, save each one
in the .wmv format and then re-import the group
of saved movie clips and combine then into a
final single movie. Or...each clip could be a Scene
(chapter) on a DVD.

As for .mov files...converting to the .wmv format
before importing would be a good idea.

The following freeware can do the conversion:

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Format Factory
http://www.pcfreetime.com/
(FWIW...you may want to uncheck
all the boxes on the final screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
open the program and choose an Output Folder...
(this is where you will find your files after they are
converted)

Drag/drop your audio/video clips onto the
main screen...

Select 'All to ???' / OK...
(the ??? represents your choice of format)

Click...Start...on the toolbar...

That should do it...

You might want to double the allocation if you have the space available on
your HDD.

The app is only using 300MB of Main memory. A bigger page file allows more
of the apps data content to temmporarily be stored outside of main memory.

I've made the pagefile humongous in the past - the app will only use 300mb
and page fault all day - even if only app running. That's why I was
wondering if anyone knew of a dos line command to "tell the app" to use more
memory.
