Selecting Channel 47.1, getting a no signal message, then tuning channel 10.1
produces an almost always good picture, but if I select 10.1 first I get no
signal.
I get the same result by turning channel 21.1, then channel 12.1.
I am no issues such as this with any of the other 3 OTA ATSC signals
available.
I removed my Vbox 164e and drivers and installed the Hauppauge 2250 and
current drivers. In Media Center the Hauppauge performed the same way as the
Vbox, however the Hauppauge WinTV7 software connected with all the available
ATSC signals flawlessly.

looks similar to http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/78730/389860.aspx#389860

if you are using the most recent drivers, you might want to start a thread on
thegreenbutton.com as well as here.

I visited your webpages, but did not see any solution to my problem. Perhaps you could direct me to some free software that would temporarily replace XP MCE, but still compatible to the Vbox 164e. If such replacement software does not exhibit the problem I'm having, they would give me more indication that my problem is with XP MCE. If I felt strongly enough, I might reinstall.

sorry, it seemed similar in the inability to have a consistent ability to tune.

I think your symptoms are caused by the fact that both 47-1 and 10-1 are CBS
affiliates and 12-1 and 21-1 are both ABC affiliates. You possibly need to
delete one of the CBS channels and one of the ABC channels from your guide.

The only reason that 47-1 and 21-1 are in the guide is because I discovered,
by trial and error, that I was only able to receive CBS and ABC if I first
selected the 47-1 in the 21-1 channels. It's as though there is a signal
compliment that is missing in, say, 10-1 and is present in 47-1. Furthermore,
that compliment has to be passed to the tuner before thecomplement contained
in 10-1. I know this sounds weird, but I have had other, local, techs say
this is plausible. It's just no one seems to have a fix for it. However, I
follow your reasoning and delete 47-1 and see what happens.

So I deleted 21-1 (I chose ABC rather than CBS) from the MCE Guide. The
result was as I had predicted. I was now not able to receive ABC at all,
while previously I was able to receive ABC by doing the two-step: 21-1, then
12-1. ABC and CBS run the lowest input power, locally. However, I have no
difficulty receiving them on my Sony Bravia, only on my computer. Same
antenna.

Have you tried deleting both then rebooting and adding one back in manually?

in the Edit Channel provision, I deselected 47-1 and 21-1. There were no
signals for 10-1 and 12-1. Next, in the Edit Channel provision I deselected
10-1 and 12-1. Rebooted. This left me with the three channels for which I
have no issue. I ran the TV signal set up procedures and also downloaded the
latest copy of the Guide. I then reselected 12-1, resulting in no signal.
Then reselected 10-1 with the same result. After selecting 47-1 and 21-1, I
was back to my original situation: to receive signals on 10-1 and 12-1, I had
to use a two-step process, or selecting 47-1 and 21-1 respectively.

Since you reran setup for your Zip code instead of just adding one of the
channels in each problem channel pair to the guide you had working with the
3 channels as I suggested I am not surprised that you got the same result
that you had before.

When you say "delete" a channel. What, specifically, are the steps for doing
that? I ask because perhaps removing a check mark from a box is not what you
had in mind. The Guide lists the "deleted" channel, but shows "no data
available". No signal is received for such a channel.

I do not use the guide so I don't know the details of adding or deleting
channels from the available channels list.
I was trying to get you to add one channel from each of the channel pairs
that you got with the setup that only showed the 3 local channels.
Another possibility is try using as Zip code that is close enough to Medford
to get the the 5 Medford channels but which is no longer in range of the
other conflicting ABC and CBS network channels.
