Have you tried using the other IR blaster that came with your system between
your MC IR receiver and the IR signal input location on the DTA STB?

I have the IR that came with the system plug in to a USB port with the IR
tape to the front of the DTA where the green light is, on the DTA the IR that
came with the DTA still plug in to the back of the DTA as per these Instr.
Should I unplug the IR from the back of the DTA?

Yes
The ir receiver that plugs into the DTA is an extender and is furnished so
you can hide the DTA out of sight.

the instructions clearly say do *not* use the IR remote extender. Please remove
it. power cycle everything and run through setup again.

5. IR two way blaster cable. The DTA adapter comes with a remote and an IR
extender. Do NOT use the IR extender to plug into your eHome MCE receiver.

I just removed the IR extender that came with the DTA so it is running only
with the eHome receiver plugged in to a USB port, I can only still change
channels if I use the DTA remote, keyboard # pad shows channels #'s in the
screen but does not change channels. Any ideas?

did you rerun TV setup?

Yes I did, when it got to the point of learning the DTA remote the screen
will not respond to the #'s so then I went to the learn remote section with
the same results can't change channels witn WMC remote, the funny thing is
that now DTA remote changes channels with only the eHome reciever installed
without its original IR extender.

You should not be using the extender that came with the DTA since as Barb
pointed it is desinged to provide another location other then front of the
DTA to receive the channel control signal.IR signal
You should only have the IR blaster that came with and is connected to your
MCE system covering the front location IR reeceiver

Thanks Curious, that is all I'm using the IR that came with the system, and
it is covering the front of the Comcast DTA box

You mentioned a couple of times you covered the green light on the DTA. Is
that what you really meant? The IR bug that is plugged into the back of the
MCE IR receiver (the USB connected one) should be taped over the DTA center.
Over the little round window in the center of the DTA front.

Out of curiousity, do you have a plasma TV this is all driving? I had the
problem that I could not do the remote learning on my setup with the room
with the Plasma. My MCE IR receiver activity light would always be on, when
the Plasma TV was on a channel. It went off when I tuned to an empty channel
like 1, or turned the TV off. I turned the TV off, hooked up a monitor to
the MCE PC and ran the TV setup like that, including the remote setup. That
worked. Pulled the monitor and turned the TV on, and everything continued to
work. Seemed like the plasma rf signal was interfering with the MCE IR
receiver reading the Comcast remote during programming. Doesn't seem to
bother the MCE remote, which is all I need to use now.

you keep saying you covered the green light

you need to take the sticky end of the eHome cable and place it over the
receiver "eye" of the DTA directly on the glass. then plug it into the eHome
receiver. if you have a two port USB receiver, and one port does not work, try
the other port.

That is what I did, used the red IR end of the eHome receiver and tape it in
front of the DTA green light. I do have a two port usb rec. but have not try
port #2 yet.
All of this is being done just in my computer flat screen monitor, there is
not a second monitor or tv

You're still missing everyone's point. The IR bug needs to be stuck over the
IR "eye", sensor window on the DTA.

Not on top of the green power light.

O.K. Jaime I got it now and I move the plug over to port two as per Barb's
suggestion with the same result's. I guess I will have to settle for using
two remotes, DTA remote for changing channels and WMC remote works for
everything else.
Thanks all for your help!!!!!!

You are still missing the point the green LED light on the front of the DTA
is not the location where you need to hang the blaster since that light is
used to indicate that a signal has been received.. The IR receiver location
on the front I believe is the small circle described Sby ven and can easily
be located by moving and using the DTA's own remote around the front of the
DTA at c;lose distance to find the actual IR receiver location where the
Blaster bug needs to be located.

Often a flashlight helps a lot if the IR sensor isn't especially visible,
since with the concentrated light, enough visible light gets through to
make the sensor visible.

But I suspect that the above comment won't help Robustiano, since he seems
to be dead set on using the indicator light as his target...

I got that feeling also, before I posted my suggestion above, but being the
eternal optimist, I thought I would give it a try anyway :o)

If your still having the channel not changing, Try disconnecting the
infrared that came with the box then the Channels will change..
At least that is what happened to mine..
Comcast told me i needed a new remote and that it would tke 7 - 14 days to
get a new one so i played around with everything and unhook the infrared and
gee it works now..
So it must be the infrared is bad in the box or not programed right!
Good luck to all that have the same problem...
