I'm having issues with Closed Captioning being out of sync.
My setup is as follows.
P4 2.8 machine with 1 gig or RAM.
2 Harddrives.. C: for the system files and D: for all media. (including
recorded content)
eVGA Dual NVTV tuner card.

I don't have a video card with video out since I only connect to it
using my Linksys extender via 100 Mbps.

Everything seems to works fine except fot the Closed Captioning.

The symptoms are as follows:

Watching live TV.. (TV on the extender which is NOT being recorded)
closed caption is in sync.
Real Live TV (using the TV's tuner) closed caption is in sync.
Watching something while it is being recorded.. CC is out of sync. A
few seconds ahead of the actual dialog.
Watching something that was recorded.. CC is also out of sync.

I have the latest firmware for the extender as well as the latest
drivers for the eVGA tuner card.

I've called eVGA and they say it is a Linksys problem.
Linksys says it is an eVGA problem.
When I tell them this, they both says it's a Microsoft problem.

Any ideas?

thanks

It's a known issue. I am not aware of a workaround.

Is it a known issue with MCE 2005 and closed captioning itself, the
NVTV card or with the Extender and CC?

thanks

It has more to do with network transmission of video/CC data (and subsequent
buffering to smooth out network drop-outs)
