with rollup 1 everything worked fine, with rollup 2 I can still start MCE and
listen to musc, and I can play videos, but when I try to return to the main
menu or press the back button while watching or after a video file has eneded
then MCE will crash, if I uninstall update rollup 2 then this problem goes
away, I need this update installed because I need some of the things this
update adds

so I know the problem is somthing that rollup 2 changes, I had rollup 1
before and did not have any errors

the error I get after playing video files (or during if I try to return to
the menu) is this
______________________________________________________-

eshell.exe- Common Language Runtime Debug Service

Application has generated an exception that can not be handled.
Proccess id= 0x374(884)
thread id= 0xfa0(4000)

_______________________________________________________

I can play the exact same video files in windows media player perfectly
before and after the update

P.S. when I try to play a dvd in my dvd drive all I see is a black screen,
if I press a button then this error message pops up and MCE crashes

before MCE update rollup 2 everything was PERFECT, when I uninstall the
update then MCE works perfectly one more, I need this update to be installed
so that I am able to use a third party MCE add on that lets you recode vidoes
in real time to send to the MCE extender

anyone know of a solution? I want to have this MCE up and running before the
weekend.

Yes, I installed .net 1.1 and 1.1 sp1 before I even installed MCE sp1 or sp2

I installed a third party dvd decoder and now I am able to watch dvds in MC,
but while watching a dvd if I try to go back to the menu then It will crash
with a slightly different message

thanks for trying to help, got any more suggestions??

I ran all of those commands, I got an error message when I ran the two
commands that invlove ehrecvr, everything else was fine

the error:
________________________________________________________
ehRecvr.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because faultrep.DLL was not found.
Re-installing the app may fix this problem

I have MCE on another hard drive, so I think I will find that DLL file on
that install and copy it to where it needs to be in my current install, hope
this will fix the problem

let me know if I am on the right track....

PS: However, I did recently upgrade AC3 Filter...but the problem
persisted after uninstalling AC3 Filter...

Thanks again,
