OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
My networking is all screwed up, etc. I tried reverting to an earlier
configuration; however, that failed.
I need to get this back working correctly. I have neither the time no
inclination to do a system restore.
I have never heard of a Windows update somehow changing XP versions, seems
like that would be major news with all the copies of XP Pro out there.
Sounds more like someone tried a repair install with the wrong setup disc.
Have you tried uninstalling the most recent updates that caused the problem?
You said you tried an earlier configuration, do you mean using "System
Restore" to roll back the system to a date before the problem occurred or
just by choosing "Last Know Good Configuration" at bootup?
